Headset Amplifiers
| Before reviewing the possible amplifier choices, please
investigate what type of phone system your dispatch console runs on.
It will either be a 4-wire or a 6-wire system. To determine this,
consult your current operations manual or pull out the existing
"two-prong adapter" plug-in and see how many rings are around each
prong. A 4-wire system has a total of two rings, one on each prong.
A 6-wire system has a total of four rings, two on each prong. From
this determination, you can better understand the information
provided below and decide which amplifier covers your headset
requirements. (Note: Most emergency dispatch units run off of a
6-wire headset system.) Please review the following selections and
choose from depending on your requirements.

E4 Amplifier
The E4 Amplifier is an efficient, easy-to-use amplifier for any
Starkey Headset or EarSet. A six-position slide switch makes
telephone compatibility simple, while the E4's control panel puts
the volume control, mute switch and headset/handset selection at
your fingertips.The E4 is powered by two "AA" batteries or with
an AC adapter (with some phone systems, the amplifier may be powered
by the phone.) A "low battery" indicator gives ample warning when
the batteries are getting low. All connection jacks are clearly
labeled, making installation a snap.

EBCX Amplifier
The EBCX Amplifier is a 4-wire system. The small size makes it an
unobtrusive unit designed to fit the needs of a wide variety of
telecommunications professionals. Featuring a one-touch mute switch
and volume control, the EBCX may be worn on the belt or used as a

EBCX-6 Amplifier
The EBCX-6 Amplifier is used on 6-wire systems. Its small
unobtrusive size makes it perfect for emergency dispatchers, police
and fire personnel. The push-to-talk switch allows wearers to toggle
between telephone and radio on the same headset. The EBCX-6 is
typically worn on the belt but may also be used as a desktop unit.
(Accessory item #PJ740 is typically requested by many dispatch
